In June, Italy saw the addition of 8,224 new photovoltaic systems, collectively providing 483.66 MW of capacity, along with 4,656 fresh energy storage installations, as per the latest update from Terna’s monitoring platform for electricity generation capacity in the nation.
Year-to-date, Italy has recorded 82,371 new solar installations, marking a 3.94% upsurge. Compared to June 2025, the total number of photovoltaic systems has grown by 9.14%, encompassing 182,106 installations.

In the capacity realm, Italy introduced 6,720.97 MW of newly minted solar generation capacity in the past year, a yearly spike of 16.85%. From January 1 to June 30, solar capacity experienced an uptick of 3,092.61 MW, translating to a 7.11% rise.
Italy presently boasts 2,174,459 photovoltaic systems of various sizes and power ratings, constituting 99.3% of all renewable energy installations. Solar energy makes up 53.6% of Italy's overall renewable energy capacity, with an installed capacity of 46,605.58 MW.
In the course of 2025, Italy enriched its portfolio by 213,200 photovoltaic systems, amassing 6.4 GW of capacity, inclusive of 15,533 installations in December that contributed 638.6 MW.
